More Long Exposure Stuff

With the late spring coming to central Europe and our north-eastern part of Switzerland came the wish to explore my neck of the woods some more.

I was looking forward to explore especially the ‘Alpstein‘ a northern section of the Alps, that is quick and easy to reach from St.Gallen the city where I live. I got myself a new pair of hiking boots and I was ready to hit the trail.
In the later part of last year I got a bit more into doing long exposures. I wrote a post  back then about Creativity Tools, go there first. The deliberate thinking process and the time needed to create decent results suited me and so I wanted to do more of it. Some of the mountain lakes as well as our largest body of water nearby, the Bodensee (Lake of Konstanz) are good places to experiment.
I got myself 3 ND filters, a 3, 6 and a 10 stop filter. these are screw in filters in 67mm and I also use a Circular Polarizer with a 77mm thread size via step up rings. This is a compact setup, but at the same time also a bit cumbersome.

Maybe about a month back I invested in a Kickstarter Programm for a California company called Breakthrough Photography, that promises a simpler cohesive system. I expect the filters to be as good as the ones sold by Lee or the Format Hitech.

I will report back once I get to use the new filter system…
