More Long Exposure Stuff

With the late spring coming to central Europe and our north-eastern part of Switzerland came the wish to explore my neck of the woods some more.

I was looking forward to explore especially the ‘Alpstein‘ a northern section of the Alps, that is quick and easy to reach from St.Gallen the city where I live. I got myself a new pair of hiking boots and I was ready to hit the trail.

Test-Shooting with Michelle…

A few days ago I had the chance to test my recently acquired Fuji XT-2 in a ‘Environmental’ Environmental Portrait shooting with MichellePortrait session. I was curious to see, how the camera would respond and feel during the actual shooting and I wanted to see the quality and the dynamic range the final images would display.

Fuji XT-2 goes to Tenerife

It took time to get my own Fuji XT-2, I ordered one late November of 2016Photo of the Fuji XT-2 with the Kit lens and by the end of the year I still had no Idea when I would get my hands one one. Reason: Backorder…

Anyway by early February I finally held one in my hands and got to do a bit of personal testing/ exploring. Reading lot’s of reviews did prepare me in a rudimentary way of what the camera has to offer, but in order to learn to use it, I needed to take it out and shoot with it.

Creativity Tools: ND Filters & NikCollection

Calm lake surfaceI am thinking about what has inspired me most in recent weeks about photography. Which piece of gear that has helped me to stay inspired in photography in recent weeks?
Well it’s 2 pieces of gear really. The NikCollection as in a software standalone and plugin for Lightroom and Photoshop and a 0.9 and a 3.0 Neutral Density (ND) filter.

The ‘Nik Collection’ you can download for free, it has awesome presets for processing color and black and white images, giving images some extra punch and or converting them to powerful black and white images.

A few day ago I had the pleasure of working with MichellePortraits of Michelle Morray (Mimy) Morray. We got together to resolve some of her computer problems and went from there straight into creating the following images.

Snow White

#SnowWhite Dance Performancejust a couple of weeks back I had the pleasurable job to photograph Snow White as a dancing performance. The production was choreographed by the dance studio DanceLoft and the performance took place in the Stadthof in Rorschach. A prelude to Christmas and it’s festivities.

I manged to get a feel for the choreography in the main rehearsal although without the light show, that would set the mood in the live performance.

Maria Valychko

portrait image of Maria Here are images from a recent shooting with Maria Valychko. We started with a few shots, sort of a replay of the movie ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’. From there we moved indoors. It had been snowing or raining off an on all day.

I had 3 indoor locations set up. I worked mostly with a  Westcott Rapidbox Octa and for the low key shots on the red sofa and with the black background I used the Ezybox from Lastolite. The flash used in the light modifiers flash were a Canon Speedlight 430- and 580 EXII.
